Corset Account
There has been corset worship by both
women and men for many centuries. The form
and construction techniques have been on a
continual pattern of change and so have the
components that are used. If you are trying
to develop the desirable shape for you, you
may be a better consumer if you have an
understanding of the materials and items you
can choose from.
Corsets and Body Shaping
The really old corsets are usually ones the
a minimal amount of reshaping. The breasts look
to be constrained and their appearance
reshaped. To develop this profile you must work
to reshape the iherent shape and curves of a
lady's body.
Boning and Busks
A successful corset design is related to two
components: a) the type and strength of boning
used, and b) how snug the lacing can be
tightened. In order to ensure a comfortable fit
you can only tighten and lace up to a point,
the remainder of the functionality is provided
by the support delivered by the boning.
One of the best boning materials is nylon
covered steel that is pale white in color and
is constructed in a wide variety of
thicknesses, lengths, and widths. When
specifying the steel boning for the best corset
for your body type the width takes precedence
over thickness. You are able to judge when the
correct spring steel boning is selected because
it is very pliable but it is difficult to
bend.
Busk front closures are sometimes used, they
open and are found on the front of corsets to
allow you to dress yourself in the corset
without assistance. The first appearance of a
busk on a corset was near 1860 and initiated
with the straight busk, the more intricate
spoon busk followed. Both of these items can be
found in our corset superstore.
