Corset Record
There has been corset worship by both
sexes for many centuries. The construction
methods and shapes they produce have changed
due to new technology and so have the types
of materials used. For you to reproduce the
shape you desire, you may be a better
consumer if you have an understanding of the
assortment of materials and items you can
choose from.
Using Corsets to Shape the Body
The oldest created corsets are typically the
ones the a minimal amount of reshaping. Your
breast shape appears to be in compression and
deliver the appearance of a minimal breast
silhouhette. To develop this shape you have to
constrain and work against the regular curves
and general shape of a woman's body.
Boning and Busks
Success depends on two things: a) strength
of boning used, and b) the ability to tighten
the lacing. In order for the corset to fit you
comfortably you can only lace up and tighten so
much, the boning provides the remainder of the
support.
A fine choice in boning is the use of spring
steel cased in nylon that typically is rendered
in a lighter color pallette and comes in a
group of thicknesses, widths, and lengths. When
you are making a selection for the type of
steel boning for the corset best suited to you
the thickness gives way to the width in
importance. You are sure when you purchase a
corset with the best steel boning because it is
flexible and pliable, but it is very hard to
bend it.
There are also busks which open and are used
in the front of corsets to enable you to get
into and out of your corset without help. These
did not appear until around 1860 and began with
the inclusion of a simple busk, the more
detailed spoon busk was created ten years
later. All of these items can be found in our
online corset store.
