Corset Account
Corsets have been idolized
by both women and men for many hundreds of
years. The shapes formed by the various
construction methods have been able to be
modernized similar to the updating of the
items and materials used. For you to develop
the correct shape for you, you need to have
knowledge of the items available to you
today.
Corsets for Shaping the Body
The oldest created corsets are typically the
ones with the least amount of shape or curves.
The breasts tend to be flattened and their
shape diminished. To attain this shape you have
to contain and fight the natural shape and
curves of a woman's body.
Busks and Boning
A successful corset design is related to two
components: a) the characteristics of the
boning material used, and b) the level of
lacing tightening. If you want the corset to
feel comfortable when you are wearing it you
are only able to tighten the laces to a point,
you should rely on the boning material to
provide the rest of the structural support.
A useful boning material is nylon cased
spring steel that is white in color and comes
in different widths, thickness and length. When
choosing a spring steel for your favorite
corset style the thickness is of primary
importance. When the right spring steel is used
it is pliable but it is really hard to
bend.
You are able to also find busks that open
and are mainly used on the front of corsets to
enable you to put on and take off your corset
without calling someone in for help. The
earliest busks were invented around 1860 and
began with the inclusion of a simple busk,
today's spoon busk was created more than a
decade later. All of these corsets can be found
in either our corset superstore or our corset
auctions.
