Corset Account
There has been corset worship by both men
and women for centuries. The form and
construction techniques have been on a
continual pattern of change and so have the
components that are used. In order to
develop the best shape for you, you might be
better informed if you have an understanding
of the assortment of materials and items you
can choose from.
The Corset Body Shaping Story
The oldest corsets are usually ones the a
minimal amount of reshaping. Your breast shape
appears to be significantly pressed down and
deliver the appearance of a minimal breast
silhouhette. To develop this shape you have to
compress and reshape the regular curves and
general shape of a woman's body.
Boning, Busks and Other Corset
Techniques
A quality corset depends on two factors: a)
the type and material used in the boning, and
b) how tight you can snug up the lacing. To
ensure comfortable wear you can only tighten
and lace up to a point, the remainder of the
functionality is provided by the support
delivered by the boning.
A fine choice in boning is the use of spring
steel cased in nylon that comes in lighter
colors and is built in a wide variety of
lengths, widths, and thicknesses. When you
select a spring steel for the corset you choose
the width is secondary to the thickness. When
the correct thickness of spring steel is used
it is pliable and flexible, but it is nearly
impossible to bend them.
You can also use busk fasteners that open
and are typically used with the front of
corsets to enable you to slip into and out of
your corset unassisted. The busks were created
in the 1860's and began with straight busks,
the complications of the spoon busk was
developed around 1870. All of these corsets can
be found in either our corset superstore or our
corset auctions.
