Corset Account
Corsets have been
attractive to both sexes for the last
several centuries. The construction
techniques and the shapes they form have
been upgraded with newer technology and so
have the basic types of items used. If you
are trying to reproduce the correct shapes,
you should have an understanding of the
items and materials you can select from.
The Corset Body Shaping Story
The oldest corsets have usually been the
ones with moderate amounts of reshaping. The
breast flesh looks to be significantly pressed
down and deliver the appearance of a minimal
breast silhouhette. To develop this shape you
have to work against the curves and shape of of
a woman's body.
Busks, Boning and Corset Construction
A corset of high quality depends on two main
factors: a) the strength and other factors of
the boning material, and b) the ability to
tighten the lacing. In order for the corset to
fit you comfortably you are able to lace and
tighten up to a point, you should rely on the
boning for providing the rest of the
support.
Spring steel boning is nylon-coated steel
that is white in color and comes in a group of
thicknesses, widths, and lengths. When you are
making a selection for the type of steel boning
for a corset that will look like it was
designed for you the thickness is what should
be checked out. When the proper thickness of
steel boning is selected it is quite flexible
and it is extremely hard to bend.
There are also busk fasteners that open and
are sometimes used on the front of corsets to
allow you to slide into and out of your corset
without another person's help. The first time
busks were used was near 1860 and launched with
simple busks, today's spoon busk was created
more than a decade later. All of these corsets
can be found in either our corset superstore or
our corset auctions.
