Corset Record
There has been corset worship by both
sexes for many centuries. The construction
methods and shapes they produce have changed
in both type and variety and so have the
components and materials used. If you are
trying to create the desirable shape for
you, you may be a better consumer if you
have an understanding of the assortment of
materials and items you can choose from.
Body Shaping and Corsets
The first corsets are usually ones the a
minimal amount of reshaping. Your breast shape
appears to be significantly pressed down and
deliver the appearance of a minimal breast
silhouhette. To develop this shape you have to
constrain and work against the regular curves
and general shape of a woman's body.
Boning and Busks
Success depends on two things: a) the
properties of the boning material, and b) how
much you can tighten the lacing. To feel
comfortable in your corset you should only
tighten and lace up so much, the boning
provides the remainder of the support.
A good boning material is spring steel
coated in nylon that provides a light color
base and is made in an assortment of widths,
lengths, and thicknesses. When selecting the
spring steel boning for the best corset for you
the thickness, and not the width, should be of
primary importance. You are sure when you
purchase a corset with the best steel boning
because it is flexible and pliable, but it is
very hard to bend it.
There are also busk fasteners that open and
are used for the front of corsets to enable you
to get into and out of your corset without
help. These did not appear until around 1860
and began with the straight busk, the more
detailed spoon busk was created ten years
later. All of these items can be found in our
online corset store.
