Corset Lowdown
There has been corset worship by both
women and men for many centuries. The
construction methods and shapes they produce
have been on a continual pattern of change
and so have the components that are used. If
you are trying to develop the desirable
shape for you, you may be a better consumer
if you have an understanding of the
materials and items you can choose from.
Corsets and Body Shaping
The ancient corsets are usually those with
the least amount of curves. The breasts look to
be constrained and their appearance reshaped.
To develop this profile you must work to
reshape the iherent shape and curves of a
lady's body.
Corset Facts about Boning, Lacing, and
Busks
A successful corset design is related to two
components: a) the characteristics of the
boning material used, and b) the ability to
tighten the lacing. In order for the corset to
fit you comfortably you can only lace up and
tighten so much, you should rely on the boning
for providing the rest of the support.
One of the most popular types of boning is
steel boning covered in nylon that is typically
a light color and is found in different length,
thickness, and widths. When selecting the
spring steel boning for the best corset for you
the thickness gives way to the width in
importance. You are sure when you purchase a
corset with the best steel boning because it is
clearly flexible but is is extremely difficult
to bend.
Busk fasteners are also used, they open and
are typically used with the front of corsets to
allow you to dress yourself in the corset
without assistance. The first appearance of a
busk on a corset was near 1860 and initiated
with a very simple busk, the more complicated
spoon busk was developed in the 1870's. All of
these corsets can be found in either our corset
superstore or our corset auctions.
